What CheckAScam is for
CheckAScam provides general information and tools to help you assess whether a website, message or offer is likely to be trustworthy. It is an aid to your own judgement, and nothing more. It is not a substitute for professional advice, for your bank's or the police's fraud services, or for your own careful decision-making. If you need legal, financial or other professional advice, please consult a qualified professional.
Using the site responsibly
You may read, share and rely on our content for your own personal, non-commercial use. In return, we ask that you do not:
- use the site or its tools for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, defame or harm anyone;
- attempt to break, overload, scrape at scale, or interfere with the site, its security or its infrastructure;
- submit false reports or deliberately misuse any checking or reporting feature; or
- copy or republish our content as your own, or in a way that misrepresents where it came from.
We may restrict or withdraw access to anyone who misuses the site, at our discretion.
Our ratings and information are opinions
Any trust rating, score or assessment we provide is an opinion, formed by weighing publicly available signals through automated analysis, as described on our how we score page. It is not a statement of proven fact about any business or person, and it is not a guarantee of safety or of wrongdoing. A favourable rating does not promise that a transaction will go well, and a poor rating is not a finding of guilt against any named person. Accuracy and availability
We work hard to keep our content accurate and current, but we cannot promise it is complete, error-free or up to date at every moment, and scams change constantly. We provide the site "as is" and "as available", and we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or free of faults. The website checker is under active development, and its coverage and behaviour will change over time.
Other websites we link to
Where we link to external sites — official reporting services, for example — we do so to be helpful, but those sites are run by others and their content and practices are not ours to vouch for. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other side of it.
Our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss you suffer from relying on the site or its ratings, or from being unable to use it. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time, and the current version is always the one published here. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any consumer rights you have to bring proceedings elsewhere.
